IPSEA is a national charity providing legally based advice, support and training on the law relating to special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We are experts in our field and have been providing our services for over 30 years. We have a foundation training days planned to take place around England which may be of interest to you. The training is tailored specifically for parents and carers, providing information on the law and empowering parents to use the law to get the right education for their child with SEND. Foundation Training Day The course will provide information on the law, guidance, policy and practice and but also aims to show parents how they can begin to use the law to gain support for their child. The course relates to the law as it applies in England. By the end of the course you will have an understanding of the following areas of law: 1. The law on SEND – where to find it and some key legal definitions 2. Duties of schools towards children with SEND 3. The Local Offer 4. The process towards obtaining an EHC plan, including EHC needs assessments 5. What should an EHC plan contain? 6.
