When is the chat taking place?

Date: 22nd March 2017

Time: 4:30pm

What is the chat about?

myVoice is a project for 16-25 year olds with autism. It’s funded by the Department of Health, and it’s all about connecting you with other young adults with autism and helping you to have a say in your local communities. As part of the project, we run regular chats and have recently started running chats via Facebook Live.

In this chat, some of our myVoice volunteers Natasha and Naomi will be interviewing Sophie Walker, Leader of the Women’s Equality Party as part of our myVoice chat on women, the autism spectrum and getting your voice heard.

The chat will be streamed live on Facebook and will be split into four topics:

  1. Experience of receiving an autism diagnosis as a woman
  2. Parenthood and autism
  3. Building support networks
  4. Getting your voice heard
Who is taking part?

Sophie Walker, Leader of the Women’s Equality Party

Sophie Walker is the Leader of the Women’s Equality Party and a Parent Patron of Ambitious about Autism.

Sophie’s daughter Grace was diagnosed with autism when she was eight, a process that took five years and a lot of determination. This was the moment when Sophie realised, in her words: “how poor we are as a society at understanding and embracing difference. It was the moment when I put together my own experiences as a woman and those of my daughter, and began to understand what diversity there is in our country, and the scale of the work we have to do until we are all equal.”
Ask questions and take part!

We want you to take part and ask questions, which we can put to Sophie, Natasha and Naomi on the day.
