Healthwatch Cheshire East would like to make you aware of a report that we have completed which highlights the experiences of carers of children and adults with Autism in Cheshire East.
During the production of this report we have worked alongside both South Cheshire and Eastern Cheshire CCGs and within the report we recognise that Eastern Cheshire CCG have developed a new pathway for diagnosis which we hope once implemented will address some of the issues that carers have identified.
We have shared this report widely because we feel that many of the issues that are highlighted are relevant for the whole of Cheshire East and are also wider than the issue of diagnosis. For example the disparity in the approaches that schools take, the availability of support during a crisis and the lack of provision for adults with autism, particularly those who receive their diagnosis as an adult.
