Dear All ,
We are currently trying to find out people’s views about the community equipment services. You are asked to respond to Alison Philips by the 8 th of August
Community equipment Service
Community equipment items are aids to independent living for those individuals that are less mobile or need assistance. These items range from walkers, raised toilet seats and commodes, provided through accredited retailers, up to larger items such as profiling beds and hoists, which are delivered and collected by suppliers.
Some items can be assessed for and obtained through an Independent Living Centre (ILC) where items can be tried or viewed, as well as information provided.
However, the community equipment service does not cover wheelchairs, or health specific equipment which are provided in different ways.
We are carrying out a review of the community equipment service for the Vale Royal area and are really interested to gather information about your experiences to understand the efficiency and effectiveness of the equipment service. Your answers will enable us to ensure the service is able to meet your needs, and the needs of others, now and in the future.
Perhaps you have used the equipment service or are a carer for someone who has.
Were you assessed by a health or social care professional or did you go to an accredited retailer, or independent living centre (ILC)?
Have you found the equipment to be useful and if so has any particular item been beneficial? I.e. a walker or toilet seat for example. Did you use the retail or supplier service – or both?
Perhaps you can advise if the item meet your needs and if the service was explained clearly to you.
Your comments on the service would be appreciated. Please send them to Alison Phillips, Project Support Officer, Mobile 07769 880651 or e.mail Alison.philips@nhs.net
