SO WHAT IS AUTISM?

Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how people perceive the world and interact with others.

People with Autism,  see, hear and feel the world differently to other people. If you have Autism, you have Autism for life; Autism is not an illness or disease and cannot be ‘cured’.

Autism is a spectrum condition, somtimes referred to as Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC).  People with ASC share certain difficulties, but these will affect them in different ways. Some people with ASC also have a learning disability, mental health issues or other co-morbid conditions, meaning people need different levels of support. All people with ASC learn and develop. With the right sort of support, all can be helped to live a more fulfilling life of their own choosing.

The Fun Day was absolutely superb, the magician captured Jack's imagination he was mesmerised. The Samba band were brilliant, usually he avoids such things. Today when we were walking back to the car Jack noticed a house for sale, he said, "mummy look, we can move here to be nearer to my space". Says it all really. All the staff and volunteers have gone over and above, thanks to everyone for making our summer so memorable and such fun

I just popped in out of inquisitiveness today and I was treated to a full Q&A and tour. Very impressed, lots of services for children and adults plus parents. The sensory room is AMAZING. If they can provide services in Macclesfield, why is there nothing where I live in Stockport? Thank you to the staff for your time.
