Making Communication Meaningful
Presented by Geoff Evans
Once again the wonderful Geoff Evans is coming along to Space4Autism to deliver another fantastic workshop.
In this presentation Geoff looks at why it is important not only to communicate with children with autism but also to ensure that this is effective and meaningful for them.
Having briefly discussed the communication difficulties and differences Geoff will describe a variety of methods and approaches to achieve meaningful communication for all children on the spectrum.
Opportunities will be given to use straight forward checklists to assess both the verbal and non-verbal communication of the child.
This will be used to discuss which of the above approaches may benefit which children. Parents’ will be provided with opportunities to share what works for them and have a hands on experience of visual techniques and those used in technology.
