As you may be aware the Council and Health are working together to review the current Children’s Speech, Language & Communication offer. There are a number of reasons for this:
- The service is currently under high demand and Cheshire East is experiencing delays in assessment and support.
- There are additional service demands to support the new special education needs schools 2023 to 2025, with therapy services this includes SLCN.
- Both the Council and Health are dealing with budget pressures.
Cheshire East Council and Cheshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) are committing to jointly review and recommission the future service. The Council are leading on the review and subsequent recommissioning, with an intention of any new service being ready to start on the 1st of April 2025. We would like to ask you if this service is meeting current needs and how the service can be improved. Your feedback is essential in future service planning, and it’s important that we can understand the needs for children and young people requiring SLC services.
