Good afternoon everyone,

You may have previously heard about the Tree of Light event which was held at Macclesfield Cemetery. The Tree of Light provides an  opportunity for reflection on memories of loved ones at Christmastime, which can be a challenging time of year.

Macclesfield Town Council are now funding this event and we are making a few changes this year.

On the lead up to the event, members of the public will be invited to collect a star and write a message on it in memory of a loved one. From Monday 2nd October,  these can be collected from the Visitor Information Centre, Macclesfield Cemetery Office, St Michaels Church, Market Place and the United Reformed Church, Park Green as well as various Funeral Directors around the Town. The stars need to be returned to one of those hubs by Friday 10th November. They will then be laminated and hung on the Market Place Christmas tree when it is decorated before the Christmas Light Switch on.

On Thursday 7th December, 5:30pm-6:30pm in the Market Place, All Hallows Catholic College will lead Christmas carols around the tree along with readings and poems in memory of loved ones who we miss at Christmas time.

I would be very grateful if you could help to spread the word and display a poster. If you would like any more information, please do let me know.

With best wishes

Helena
