Do you have or know some who experiences hyperacusis (sound sensitivity)?

We are launching an exciting new study for hyperacusis. This study will identify and prioritise “unanswered” questions about causes, diagnosis, management and treatment of hyperacusis to help pinpoint areas of research that should be focused on and treatments that need to be evaluated.

Would you like to help guide and advice on this priority setting hyperacusis project? Have your say in the development of materials for the project? Help coordinate the project?

·         We are looking for people with experience of living with hyperacusis to join our Steering Group for this study.

What is involved?

·         You would work alongside researchers, patients, parents/carers, clinicians, and PSP specialists to develop the project.

·         You will be sent all the intended resources and timeframe being developed for the project to review and agree on, contributing to each stage of the process.

·         You can help promote the project to others by contributing to a online blog, giving out flyers and information to local clinicians

·         This will help us to ensure that all the information provided in the project is appropriate for all, patients, parents/carers and clinicians, and that we achieve the best results possible.

·         This type of project usually takes 10 – 12 months to complete.

Where are the meetings?

There will be approximately 8 Steering group meetings over the project.

·         Meetings will either be face-to-face in London or Nottingham or telephone meetings where you would be able to join from your own home.

·         You do not have attend the face-to-face meetings in person if you would prefer, you can join the meeting over the telephone and still participate in the discussion.

·         If you decide that you would like to help us with this project then you would need to agree to attend the meetings, either in person or remotely as often as possible.
