Thrive for a Fiver!!!

Each year, HealthCare21 make a big push to raise money for exceptional fundraising organisations in the local community. This year, we chose the following 4 charities:  East Cheshire Hospice, Visyon, Space for Autism, and the student-led Peru Fund, which are all charities close to our hearts.

Our annual fundraisers usually involve a considerably difficulty charity challenge! In previous years we’ve rowed and cycled from Land’s End to John O’Groats, climbed the Three Peaks, and formed a work choir to sing at a fundraising evening we hosted at the Tytherington Club. This year, we broke it down and set a ‘Thrive for a Fiver’ challenge for each team member to raise as much money individually as possible, from an initial five pound investment, then pool it together to get our total.

Between February and July this year, we washed cars, baked and sold cakes, got people to guess how many skittles were in a jar, bought and sold goods on eBay, put on musical events and a sponsored human karaoke – even did strategic betting online! The final total raised was a fantastic £900! As an added incentive to the fundraisers, we awarded a prize of £100 to the person who raised the most money – which went to Liz Jennings who raised a whopping £338.84 by putting on her own music event at Visyon which included a sponsored human karaoke live feed (supported by Amy Rowlett). Liz donated her £100 winnings straight back into the pot. The total amount raised by the team was £1,000 and the four charities were each handed a cheque for £250! We would like to thank each charity for their support in our ‘Thrive for a Fiver’ event, and for coming to HealthCare21 today to collect their cheques!

Well done everybody for supporting this challenge and each other!
